What is protection class IP66?
Protect your camera even in harsh environments!
Protection class IP66 is one of the protection classes based on the IEC 60529 standard that indicates dustproof and waterproof performance established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
What does IP66 mean?
IP (Ingress Protection): A standard that indicates the degree to which internal equipment is protected from external solid objects and liquids.
The first 6 = Dusttight: This means that the device is completely protected from dust particles, even small particles such as sand and dirt, cannot get inside the device. This is the highest level of dust protection according to the IP standard.
2nd level 6 = Water jet protection: This means that the device cannot be submerged in water even if it is hit by a strong water jet from any direction. This level protects the device against strong water jets (e.g. from a pressure washer) and is suitable for outdoor use or in harsh environments.
Completely dust-proof: Completely protects the internal equipment from fine solid particles such as dust and sand.
Waterproof against strong water jets: Water will not penetrate inside even when exposed to strong water jets.
Therefore, devices with an IP66 protection class are ideal for use in harsh outdoor environments, in places where sand and dirt are flying, or where they are exposed to rain and splashes of water.
It is IP66 compliant, so it can be installed without any problems even in harsh environments!
IP66 is a protection class that has a "completely dustproof structure" and waterproof performance that is "not adversely affected by strong direct water jets from any direction" (JIS C0920).

1. Highly efficient thermal conductive material
autoVimation's camera housings are primarily made of aluminum alloys with high thermal conductivity to maximize heat dissipation performance. Aluminum is lightweight yet has the ability to effectively conduct heat, allowing the internal heat to be quickly released to the outside.
2. Unique rib design
The exterior of the housing has a unique rib (heat sink) structure, which increases the surface area and expands the contact area with the air, allowing heat to be dispersed efficiently. This design maximizes the cooling effect of natural convection and suppresses the rise in internal temperature.
3. Supports both natural and forced convection
autoVimation housings are designed for natural convection cooling, allowing for effective heat dissipation without a fan, and also offer the option to support forced convection cooling if required, protecting the camera in even more extreme temperature environments.
4. Longer life and improved reliability
Excellent heat dissipation keeps the camera's internal temperature at an appropriate level, reducing the risk of equipment failure due to overheating, improving the reliability of the entire system and reducing the need for frequent maintenance, leading to reduced long-term operating costs.
These factors allow autoVimation's camera housings to operate stably even in harsh temperature environments, providing high reliability. In particular, their excellent heat dissipation properties minimize damage to equipment caused by heat, enabling the construction of long-life systems.
autoVimation's patented heat-guide/quick-lock camera mount allows the entire housing to act as a heat sink for the camera.
This is suitable for industrial camera housings because the housing body dissipates heat from the camera body.
Just by putting it in the case, the temperature of the camera body drops to an amazing -20!!
The ambient temperature during testing was around 25°C.
